Fostering Skill Development
Through hands-on use of Clausing machinery, students gain a wide knowledge base on conventional machining (manual), and practical knowledge of the ins and outs of our different machinery through supervised operation. Students also receive insight into the technological advancements within the machine tool industry and will learn to operate a computer-numeric-controlled (CNC) machine and become familiar with the different styles of programming. By utilizing Clausing machinery, students learn real-world applications and aquire valuable knowledge as to what a career as a skilled machinist requires.
Howell High School Manufacturing and Industrial teacher, Michael Dixon, stated, “I am a newer Manufacturing Machine instructor. Since I started teaching it has become so rewarding to see the students so interested and passionate about what they are learning about. Clausing was a big help in making this happen. With the help of a grant, I was able to purchase some new Clausing Mills and Lathes.
